Hurricane Matthew

This morning, I am requesting prayer support from all of my friends everywhere. The last two months have been a roller coaster ride for my wife and I - mentally, physically and financially and now we are facing another possible tragedy. Back in August we lost a great amount of our personal belongings due to the flooding in Louisiana and we took a huge financial and mental hit. A few weeks later we ended up moving from there to Fernandina Beach, FL and since then we have been slowly trying to restore and replace what we had lost and to get settled in there. We had searched for a place to live that had not encountered any major weather events, that was safe and that offered a community that we could plugin to. Through all of that, God led us to Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island.

Yesterday, we had to evacuate from Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island due to the approaching storm - Hurricane Matthew. This area has not had a significant hurricane/weather event since 1999 and there had been many, many years of safe weather conditions prior to 1999. We have evacuated and are now physically safe in Spartanburg, SC and staying with some great friends here - Don & Valerie Wheeler.

Today, I am asking for prayer for all of the people that are facing the effects of this terrible storm and for the ones that have already encountered it. Please pray for my wife and I as we face the possibility of losing our physical belongings again and our home if the storm track does not change. Please pray for the safety of everyone in the path of this storm and especially for all of our new friends and new church family there. My heart is very heavy this morning, but I know that Jesus is here with us. We may lose physical things through this, but we will not lose our faith in God. Be blessed and be safe today.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
